Selly Park Flood Scheme Decision Delayed

Birmingham City Council’s planning department have confirmed that the decision on Selly Park North flood prevention scheme and student accommodation in Selly Oak will be delayed until September.

A decision on the application was scheduled to take place on 18 August but has now been delayed until mid/late September.

Steve McCabe MP has said that he will be keeping an eye on the developments and has asked the planning team to notify him once a new date for Planning Committee has been set.

The proposed scheme by the Environment Agency to deliver a flood protection scheme is expected to prevent the flood risk area of Selly Park North which saw many local residents devastated by the heavy rain in June. The scheme is dependent on a hybrid planning application put forward by CalthorpeEstates with the Environment Agency which includes a student accommodation development at the Pebble Mill site off Pershore Road.
