Defence Minister denies veterans are relying on Universal Credit

As the Shadow Minister for Veterans, I have been gathering data from the government with my Shadow Defence colleagues about the number of veterans claiming Universal Credit. For those who are not aware, Universal Credit is a benefit to help with living costs for those who are on a low-income or out of work.

Recent government data reveals that there are at least 52,000 veterans claiming Universal Credit. Today I asked the Defence Minister whether this is a cause for celebration or concern, but he denied the official figures I quoted from the government. Watch below until the end.
