It was great to visit the Fair for Ukraine at Selly Park Baptist Church this Saturday.
I caught up with the organiser of the event, Sally, and we had a broad ranging discussion concerning the current situation facing those currently in Ukraine, and those who have fled and are attempting to start a new life in the UK, including here in Selly Oak.
I spoke of the dire situation facing Ukrainian refugees in Poland, having recently visited myself, and going forward what more we can do, both as a community but also as a country, particularly through the Homes for Ukraine scheme, and supporting refugees once they have arrived in the UK.
It is great to hear the Fair raised over £2,500. There was lots going on during the fair, including the sale of homemade bracelets.
I will be keeping my eyes out for future events and seeing what more I can do to offer support going forward.
