Today Steve McCabe MP (Birmingham Selly Oak) delivered a petition to Parliament, signed by hundreds of parents whose children attend Allens Croft Nursery School and Highters Heath Nursery School, calling on the Government to commit to funding maintained nursery schools after 2020.
Steve McCabe MP has blasted the Chancellor for his comments during his Autumn Budget today where he told the House of Commons he was providing ‘one-off’ funding bonus to help schools buy ‘the little extras they need’.
The Premier League’s national primary school programme, Premier League Primary Stars, draws upon the excitement of the Premier League and young people’s interest in football to help inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills.
Last week, the Education Secretary, Justine Greening, announced an extra £1.3 billion of funding for schools to maintain pupil funding in real terms up to 2019-20. The announcement has been met with a mixed response and seems to raise more questions than it answers. The announcement does not seem to include any contingency for the rising staffing costs and inflationary pressures schools will face or provide any clarity on the impact of the proposed cuts to central programmes on children’s educational experience.
