Ho Ho Ho. Christmas starts early as MP launches Christmas card competition!

Christmas has come early for Steve McCabe, MP for Birmingham Selly Oak, as he launches his annual Christmas card competition for local primary schools.

The competition is popular across Selly Oak with more than 18 schools taking part this year. The winning design will be chosen to feature on Steve’s official Christmas card, which is sent to people in the constituency and across the country.  This year, it is being sponsored by Oakton Estates and Aldi.

As well as an exciting top prize for the winning design, there are also plenty of other prizes for runners-up and a prize for best entry from each school that takes part. Past prizes have been donated by Teamworks Karting, Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum and Cadbury’s World. The early signs are that there will be a bumper group of prizes again this year.

Steve McCabe MP said: “This event takes a lot of organising so we do have to start early but after such a tough year, it’s fantastic to be able to give local school children something to look forward to as the festive season approaches.

I would like to give a special thanks to Oakton Estates and Aldi, without whom it wouldn’t be possible to do this.”

Michael Oakton, Oakton Estates, said:“We have really enjoyed being a part of Steve McCabe MP’s Christmas Card Competition for the past three years and we’re really looking forward to seeing this year’s winning design.”

Marius Manolescu, Regional Managing Director for Aldi UK, said:  “It’s a pleasure to support this year’s Christmas card competition with Steve McCabe MP, which provides a great opportunity for local school children to get creative and have some well-deserved Christmas fun”
