Steve McCabe MP, Birmingham Selly Oak, is delighted to announce that Isla-Rose Beecroft from St Mary’s Church of England Primary School as winner of his Parliamentary Christmas card competition.

Each year, Steve runs a Christmas card competition with local primary schools and after what has been a very difficult year for schools, Steve was determined to uphold the tradition and spread some festive cheer. Once again Steve had the tough job of picking a winner out of hundreds of fantastic designs from Year 4 pupils across the constituency.
As part of the annual competition, which has again been sponsored by Davisons Solicitors and Oakton Estates, pupils were asked to design a Christmas card which signifies what Christmas means to them. Steve was thoroughly impressed by the creativity displayed by pupils from 18 primary schools across the constituency. It was difficult to choose but Isla-Rose Beecroft from St Mary’s Church of England Primary School emerged as a worthy winner.
Isla-Rose’s heart-warming design features on Steve’s Christmas card which is sent to hundreds of people in the constituency and across the country. While Steve along with Helen Bartlam and Mike Oakton, the competition’s sponsors, were unable to present the prize and certificate in person, they attended a “virtual” assembly at St Mary’s Church of England Primary School to celebrate Isla-Rose’s win and to present her with a special prize of tickets to Cadbury World in Bournville.
But wait—there’s myrrh… prizes were also won by runners-up Kareem Alkemesh of Grendon Primary School and Matilda Leigh of Cotteridge Junior & Infant School. Due to the overwhelming generosity of business across the county, this year Steve has been able to offer prizes for the two best designs from each of the participating school.
Prizes this year have been kindly donated by SnowDome, TeamWorks Karting, Dudley Zoological Gardens, West Midland Safari Park, Cadbury World, WH Smith, University of Birmingham Sports and Fitness, Mr Mulligans, The National Sea Life Centre, Melissa’s Melting Pot, Winterbourne House and Garden, Fired Craft and Graffitiartist.com.
