Steve McCabe MP, Birmingham Selly Oak, was pleased to present Cadence Leek, winner of his Parliamentary Christmas card competition with tickets to the Birmingham Repertory Theatre!
Each year, Steve runs a Christmas card competition with local primary schools and once again had the tough job of picking a winner out of hundreds of fantastic designs from Year 5 pupils across the constituency.
As part of the annual competition, which is sponsored by Davisons Solicitors and Oakton Estates, pupils were asked to design a Christmas card which signifies what Christmas means to them. Over 18 primary schools took part this year and Cadence Leek from Yardley Wood Primary School emerged as a worthy winner
Cadence’s colourful design features on Steve’s Christmas card which is sent to hundreds of people in the constituency and across the country. While Steve was prevented by Parliament sitting from attending, Helen Bartlam and Mike Oakton, the competition’s sponsors, presented Cadence with her special certificate during Yardley Wood Primary School’s Christmas assembly.
Prizes were also won by runners-up Kitty Talbot, from Bournville Village Primary School, and Hussnain Qamar, from Allens Croft Primary School, with Kitty winning tickets to the West Midland Safari Park and Hussnain off to Cadbury World.
Steve McCabe MP said: “Congratulations to Cadence for her amazing design, the runners up and everyone who entered. I received so many brilliant entries and it was tough to pick one but Cadence’s really stood out and was very colourful.
“I really hope Cadence, Kitty and Hussnain all enjoy their fun days out.”
“I would like to thank , Gary Davison and Helen Bartlam from Davisons Solicitors and Mike Oakton from Oakton’s estates, for sponsoring my Christmas card this year; it’s great to work with local businesses on projects like this and it wouldn’t be possible to do this without them. I would also like to thank Dudley Zoological Gardens, Screen B14 Cinema, Teamworks Karting Snowdome, Cadbury World, the Birmingham REP theatre, Thinktank Science Museum, University of Birmingham Sport and Fitness, Mr Mulligans Indoor Golf and Rush Trampoline Parks for their very generous prize donations.”
