Steve McCabe MP calls on Prime Minister to end devastating cuts to Council budgets

Steve McCabe MP (Birmingham, Selly Oak) has joined MPs, Councillors and Trade Union representatives from across the West Midlands, along with Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn, calling for an end to the Government’s disastrous austerity policy which has seen Birmingham City Council lose around 50% of its budget.

The letter highlights how the Government’s austerity policy has resulted in cuts to the vital local services that so many of the most vulnerable people in our society reply upon.

Steve said:

“My constituents are feeling the impact, from the closure of local libraries to the growing numbers living in hotels and B&Bs due to the lack of available housing. It is time for the Government to recognise the damage they have done and ensure that our local Council’s are provided with the funding they so desperately need.”
