Steve McCabe MP supports heart disease and stroke patients in Selly Oak

Member of Parliament for Birmingham Selly Oak, Steve McCabe, has offered his support to heart disease and stroke patients living in his constituency.

More than 10, 000 people in Birmingham Selly Oak constituency are living with cardiovascular disease and Steve recently met with health experts to discuss problems faced by those with a cardiovascular condition.

Steve had a mitral valve repair to his own heart five years ago. Experts from the British Heart foundation are anxious to improve early diagnosis rates as well as progress that can be made for people who suffer heart failure and inherited heart conditions.

Mr McCabe said:

“Heart disease and strokes represent conditions responsible for more than a quarter of all UK deaths. They can be devastating conditions and it is great to see the British Heart Foundation and MPs working together to find new ways of improving care and across the country. I am living proof that with early diagnosis and proper treatment, these conditions needn’t be debilitating. I believe we must continue to work together to ensure that people living with these conditions have access to the care and support they need.”
