Steve McCabe MP welcomes apprentices to House of Commons

Steve McCabe, Member of Parliament for Birmingham Selly Oak, welcomed apprentices from some of Britain’s leading aerospace, defence, security and space companies to the House of Commons last week.

Mr McCabe joined the apprentices to celebrate the 11,000 apprenticeships provided by the UK’s aerospace, defence, security and space industries. Organised by the trade organisation ADS Group, and sponsored by UTC Aerospace Systems, the event recognised the valuable contribution apprentices make to our important, high-skill manufacturing industries, and highlighted the world-leading technologies that many of the apprentices are working to develop.

Mr McCabe said:

“It was a pleasure to meet so many young people working towards excellent, highly-skilled and rewarding careers in such important industries. Our country needs more apprenticeships like these, which offer young people real quality experience and training. The event highlighted the important work that apprentices themselves do and demonstrates just how valuable apprenticeships can be not just for young people, but for employers too.”
